TREE PLANTATION

It is the imperative duty of human society to nurture the plants and tree which are the foundation of natural human life. In today’s modern world, not only natural awareness, but also activities toward tree plantation and maintenance are essential.
In SWoTT, Tree Plantation is a major activity. We have planted several saplings all around the streets, lanes and lakes we restore, e.g. Puzhal, Korattur, Rettery, Purakulam, etc. We conduct various weekly events calling various associate members for tree plantation program.

Why plantation is essential:

Environment :

Trees (a) help to combat global warming by absorbing CO2, removing and storing carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air; (b) also reduce wind speeds and cool the air as they lose moisture and reflect heat upwards from their leaves; (c) other environmental benefits include the fact they help to prevent flooding and soil erosion, by absorbing thousands of litres of storm water.

Human :

Trees help to improve air quality by cleaning dust and other pollutants from the air. The shade of trees also provides a useful barrier to harmful ultra-violet radiation from the sun.
So, as we can read, all life (humans, animals) and the environment depend mainly on trees for survival. Planting more trees contribute to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate changes, which are basically very essential for human survival.
